About Joanne Fishman, REALTOR©

It's Important That You Know Your REALTOR!

Make the Most of Your Opportunities
For the first time in her life, Joanne Fishman did not know what to say. As she stood and looked at the gruff, disheveled and unsmiling editor, she was positively tongue-tied.

So she mumbled a little, and stammered. He wasn't amused - after all, he had interrupted his lunch hour for an impromptu interview with this insistent high school student. As he looked down at her from across the desk, Joanne could feel the unfriendly scrutiny. Finally, he asked the one question she had been dreading most of all. "Well, you want a job here so bad, explain to me what you can possibly do around here?"

A Natural Talent
That was it. Joanne was lost. She knew little about the world of journalism, only that she wanted to try it enough to sacrifice a summer normally spent on her small sailboat. But to tell this big, forbidding man what she could do for him — she quickly looked around the incredibly unorganized mess called his office and came up with the answer that would change her life.

"Well, I can start by cleaning up that mess you call a desk." After he stopped laughing, the old editor looked at Joanne in an entirely different way. Here in front of him was this green student who did not know anything about the world she was stepping into, yet had the pluck and sense of timing to turn her uncertainty into an opportunity with a clever remark. This kid was a natural, and he didn't waste any time putting her to work.

The Start of Something Great
That was the start of what would eventually become something more than a career — it became a lifestyle. From that point on, summers were spent in the close confines of the newsroom, and the boat was sold one summer later for a car and the chance to chase her future as a journalist. By this time, she had become a news writer. It wasn't the New York Times, not by a long shot, but Joanne was definitely on her way.

On Her Way
Little did Joanne know that she was literally on her way to the Times — in fact, she became one of the first women to write for the Sunday Sports Section. Her love of the water instilled by her father and nurtured by summers spent on the sea, would serve her well, both at the Times and at Motor Boating & Sailing Magazine.

Throughout her 25-year journalism career, Joanne parlayed her enthusiasm and passion for life into a list of accolades and achievements, ranging from a membership at the New York Yacht Club to her involvement with four America's Cup Challenges — three as a reporter and one as an organizer.

Make Your Opportunity
Joanne has seen much in those 25-plus years. Ask her about teaching English in Italy, or sailing in the Whitbread 'Round The World Race in 1982. But nothing she experienced or reported on equaled the precious memories that come only with raising two fine sons; and nothing has yet been able to match the magnificence of sunset in the Anza-Borrego Desert. Both Joanne and Lew, her husband, fell in love with the area the first time they saw it, and when Lew's business interests took him to north San Diego County permanently, both welcomed the opportunity.

All the Right Pieces in Place
For Joanne, it was a perfect time to chase a new opportunity — this time, as a real estate professional. In real estate, the satisfaction she feels when she puts together a complete home sale or purchase is similar to the feeling of filing a blockbuster story on deadline — making sure all the right pieces are in place, and most importantly, that every aspect is clearly understood by everybody.

That's how she helps people make the most of their home buying or selling opportunities throughout the Rancho Santa Fe area. So contact Joanne today, and make the most of your next real estate opportunity!

Though she works hard, Joanne takes the time to relax and have fun, too. Among her favorite ways of unwinding are playing golf and walking her German Shepherd, Dizzy Dean.

Joanne sells San Diego, including Carlsbad, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, San Marcos, Santaluz, and Solana Beach.
